This wireless visitor Driveway Alarm from OPTEX is one of Home Security Store’s most highly rated and recommended products. That’s because OPTEX has really perfected its advanced and reliable wireless technology in the long RF transmission range of the Wireless 1000 which, as the name implies, is 1000 feet.

You can use the Wireless 1000 for many applications including as a perimeter alert for your home or shop, driveway alarm to detect approaching vehicles, an entry or walkway chime, a wireless doorbell, and as a warehouse delivery notification system. In addition, the Wireless 1000 can help monitor hard to see areas or shoplifting zones, dressing rooms and fitting rooms, unauthorized exits, jewelry display boxes, and drive-up windows.

The Wireless 1000 has 2 detection patterns. A long range of 50 feet and a fan pattern range of 17 feet. The detection pattern adjusts easily for perfect aiming. In addition, the Wireless 1000 can alert you by 3 different chime tones that a zone has been breached. The alert tones have 5 different sensitivity levels and can be set to sound up to 80 dB. If you choose to incorporate more transmitters, the receiver can also identify which zones have been breached by certain tones. Up to 12 transmitters can be incorporated.

The Wireless 1000 not only operates as a perimeter awareness system, but can trigger other devices such as door strikes, lights, sirens, cameras, and more. The system is triggered when someone passes by the system sensor, but can also work manually by a hand-held push-button device which is sold as an accessory and has a transmission range of 700 feet.

The sensor is about the size of a softball and is designed to mount easily on walls, ceilings, fence posts, and desktops. The sensor is also weather-proof. The receiver is about the size of an average hand and can be held, mounted to a wall, or stood up on a table.

With the Wireless 1000, installation is easy. Just two buttons prompt all the set-up functions needed. Again, as the name implies, no wiring is required and you can install the system anywhere inside or outside a home or business. The sensor operates off a 9V battery which should last on average about two years, and the receiver operates with an AC adapter (which is included in the kit).

Additional Features

The Sensor Has a Newly Developed Non-Directional Antenna
– All wireless transmitters have “dead spots” within their transmission range. The sensor’s improved antenna design greatly reduces “dead spots” to make installation easier and increase reliability.

The Transmitter Has a High Gain Antenna & Narrow Band Tuning
– Optimal antenna design and fine RF tuning achieve a high signal to noise rate, ensuring long range and consistent operation.

More Than 8 Million Codes
– Transmission codes are preset at the factory with over 8 million possibilities, virtually eliminating the possibility of interference or crosstalk.

Low Battery Signal
– Low battery indication by tone and LED tells you when to replace batteries and prevents malfunctions.

Sensor Chime Box w/ Relay
– Form C relay for activating other devices (50V AC 1A max. or 24V DC 1A max.) with adjustable output duration.

OPTEX Part Number
– RCTD-10U

I have wasted money on other units. This one really works.

Nice product but the range is much shorter than advertised unless it is a clear line of sight. Anything such as tree, bushes or any other object will cause it to not send the signal properly.

Works Great. Very reliable. No false alarms (I have it aimed at a wall across the driveway ) Good Range, however I had to put the receiver on an upper shelf in the to reliability receive the signal from the end of my driveway. Has volume control and tone selection. I used an Ultralife® 9V Lithium Battery from Radio Shack for longer life (often referred to as a 10 year smoke detector battery).

Bought this after someone tried to get in my house from the back deck while I was home. Now no one gets on the porch without us knowing!! The neighborhood kids have tried and fail every time. Great product, only wish that the receiver was portable.

Our driveway is a good 800 feet long. We placed our unit about half way up, and for the last five years, it has worked very well. On occassion we get a deer setting it off, but other than that it sends us a valid alarm about 85% of the time. Batteries last quite a while and the technology is good in that you are not riddled with false alarms. Plus, their customer service is outstanding.

Good alarm for the money, sometimes a little to sensitive. Have some issues early in the morning with it going off early in the morning when the sun hits it directly. Chose location that is shaded from direct sunlight. Overall happy with first attempt at home security.

Purchased 2 receivers and 5 monitors ($470) fro Home Security Store (HSS). Got the products like the next day, but UPS dropped off the stuff at the front door when it was supposed tobe delivered via signature only. Not too happy about UPS doing that. I am still trying to figure out how to program the receiver. I got it to work but the manual is not as user friendly.

I have one of these units up for 8 years and is just now acting up . I am buying another one now. PS I live in the country and had the sensor at least 600 ft from base and works great, so sensor has been out side inthe element 8 years and only changed the battery 4 times. Ron

Didn't ring all the time, perhaps about 80% of the time. The alarm would pick up small animals (cats-dogs) but sometimes miss cars going thru it. We had it about 500' away from receiver, thru a clear glass window.

This system was easy to set up and works great. There's only one problem I'm having and I don't think it's really a Problem. This spring and summer when birds fly across the path of the sensor that detects motion, the alarm will ring in the house. I look outside and see there's no one at the gate, but birds are sitting on my fence. I like the fact that I can select two ranges to monitor the area. A straight line and a V line. I have selected the straight line because I use this sensor to detect a car or truck on the pad to my fence gate. I look out to see who is at the gate then I let the car come in (or not). If I were to use the V sensor line of monitoring, I pick up the cars coming down the street. I would recommend this product to others.

I had Armadillos just tearing up my flower beds but could never catch them doing it. I finally bought an Optex 1000 and set it up. Wow! I have probably killed 40 of those rascals in the past 4 years with the help of my Optex 1000! I ended up buying another sensor and that has helped me to kill even more of them. Love this product!

This new one is my second one, i left the old one (8yrs old) at my winter home by mistake. The 9 volt battery last a good 6 months, i bought a cheap unit and have to put new batts in it every month.

It won't break! Works everytime. You can add recievers(I had one in my basement workshop). Battery life is easily two years. I paid more for that 10 years ago.

I'll never be without one. I have owned optex products for 20 years and seen other people get stuff stolen from their property. The few times someone tried with me, they got surprised and quickly left the area.

Very easy to install by yourself. I had a few false alarms when I first hooked it up, but that was my fault due to the fact that I had it set on the wrong pattern. I am very pleased with this product and now always know when my three yeard old son gets near the pool gate.

I am really happy with this product. The relay inside can be used to trigger event alarms on DVR systems for turning on your cameras if you want. I wired it up from the board to a jack on the side of the receiver unit. This unit can also be used to trigger your landscape lighting using another relay. It has a few settings for how long to hold the open or closed for the relay. Very accurate beam and seems extremely reliable in day to day use of 2+ years now. VERY HAPPY. The only thing I wish Optex would develop is a unit with a small camera in it to send to the receiver with a small LCD screen so you could get a freeze frame pic of whatever set off the unit. This way I can see if its a cat or other animal at night vs. a person walking up the drive. This would be a fantastic bedside tool for monitoring if it had the picture ablility. Thanks !!
