For five years now I have owned a handful of Dakota Alert transmitters, and have depended on the PR-3000 hand held unit as my primary receiver. I live in a remote area with a half-mile long driveway, and I would not be without my Dakota system. I even sleep with the PR-3000 under my pillow. If you place the transmitters properly (angle matters) and don't point them directly at plants that sway in the wind, the system is very reliable and false alerts will be minimal. Yes, passing animals will trigger an alarm - as will happen with any IR system. I can't even remember how many times I've dropped my PR-3000 over 5 years - on concrete, in the dirt. The case is cracked now, but it has never stopped functioning. With the cracked case I even dropped the PR-3000 in the pond a couple of years ago. After dipping the entire unit in alcohol and then drying it out and recharging it, the unit has continued to work flawlessly. I highly recommend Dakota equipment. There is nothing better out there.

VERRY POOR Reliability….. I spent all day testing different frequencies….. Transmitter is 15ft from receiver and it still fails to alert sometimes….. Was hoping this would work but I waited to long to return it. I am very disappointed…. I just had another customer pull into my driveway and surprise me again….. Base unit in my house works perfectly….. Set a baby monitor next to the base unit if you need portability….. Walt F.
