Advanced Home Security and Management System. Redefining industry standards for convenience and peace of mind, PowerMax Plus is the most advanced home security and automation platform available today. PowerMax Plus offers easy yet flexible configuration and clean wireless installation. For ease of installation kit has Pre-Programmed Sensors. The Powermax Plus Security System offers you a wide variety of options and accessories. You choose whether or not you want to use a monitoring system or simply have it call your phone or pager -- or it can do both!

The Visonic PowerMax Plus is one of those systems that can take the guesswork out of setting up security for your home. It’s perfect for a smaller home or apartment, or someone that’s just starting out with home security. Many of those people don’t know what they need or don’t want to make a big financial commitment at the beginning. This kit is a fraction of the cost of custom systems. However, it does provide a complete security solution, as well as the option to add on more features and equipment later—again, without having to call in a pro.

Think about the most vulnerable areas of your home. This would be a great place for one of Visonic’s MCT-302 magnetic contact transmitters. Two of these are included in the starter kit. Each one can be easily placed at any door or window opening. Don’t worry about Fido interfering with the system, either. The included K9-85 MCW will take care of your four-legged friends. This sensor can distinguish between man and man’s best friend (or friends); working with the system so that pets won’t constantly trigger the alarm. Instead, if a guarded window or other area is opened, the MCT-302 will send a signal back to a two-way wireless keypad. Want to protect additional areas? Transmitters can also be purchased separately, and added to any area around your home.

The keypad is sort of the brain behind the system. This is the point where all of the action happens. When a transmitter is triggered, it sends a message to this device. Then, the system will call your cell or send an email. Of course, it’s also one of the spots where you will arm and disarm the system. However, if you don’t feel like standing, the MCT234 keyfob will allow you to be lazy and protected. This 4-button controller comes with the system, and can arm or disarm the unit from anywhere within range. It’s actually perfect for when you are fumbling to get into a dark house at night

Although the system comes pre-programmed, the keypad area is also where you would add in other products. Of course, there are plenty of those! One neat idea is to add a few cameras into the mix. This will allow you to take a peek at your property, when you are inside the home. Two PowerLink packages are also available, and can provide those shots to you anywhere there’s a web connection. It’s not just convenient for when you’re out of town, but also to see if there has been a delivery, when the kids get home from school, and any other day-to-day activities.

I have a 1350sq foot one story home and I am so pleased with the Powermax Plus that I am ordering more accessories. The only thing that stopped me from giving the system 4 stars is the motion detector. It does not work consistently. I am not even going to include it with my system. I’ve read other reviews about how difficult it was to set up the system, but I’m not sure if those reviewers had the instructional DVD. The DVD shows you how to set up all the basics and all of the accessories that came with it were already pre-enrolled. The only thing I had to enroll was the smoke detector and that took about 2 minutes. I had the whole system up and running in about 30 minutes. It took about 45 minutes to place the sensors around my home. When I did a test I was very pleased. Once the alarm was activated, the system called my cell phone immediately. The alarm was also very loud and could be heard throughout the entire house.

Watch the DVD before doing anything!! Took me a few times to re-program the delays on a couple of devices but other than that, it works great.

Product was great for the first year, but then started to get a strange error message indicating a low "CPU battery level critical". I replaced the battery, but got the same message. When I contacted the home security store, they said that the only solution was to buy a whole new console at around $90.

I give the PowerMax+ wireless security system a 5 star rating.I reccomend you read the manuals and watch the video ahead of time prior to installation. This will make installation a breeze. You have numerous menu options that can accomodate any end user. My system consists of 6 motion sensors, 7 magnetic contacts, 2 two way keypads, 1 one way keypad, and 7 (x10) modules. Suprisingly the (x10) devices work very well. I plan on adding 3 smoke detectors and 3 CO detectors. The main controller and the two way keypads will take some time to install since they do require a power source. I recomend hiding the main console in a closet close to a power source. The two way keypad should be kept at the most common entry point as well as the master bedroom. This will make it easier to deterime if the system has been armed when you leave and when you sleep. I do not use keyfobs because of the quick disarming capability. My wife unfortunately leaves her keys in plain site of the entry site overnight. Any savy intruder could potentially disarm the system without using a 4 digit code rendering the security system useless.

I bought this system in November of '07. I started with the kit and added 15 contact sensors, 3 motion sensors, 2 external sirens, and two-way keypad. Like everyone else, it took me a little bit to figure out the instructions. The instructions are very thorough but hard to read. Once I figured them out, all the information was there and made sense. I had everything installed in a few hours. You'll spend a few hours installing the hardwarem but you'll spend the next few weeks tweaking the settings to be how you want them. This system is very robust and offers a lot of options for settings. The only trouble I have had is with the two-way keypad. I have figured out that it does not always receive messages from the base unit. The keypad merely relays/repeats infomation sent from the base unit. About 1 in 25 messages from the base unit does not register with the the keypad. BUT, every message sent from the keypad does get received by the base unit. The base unit has not missed a message yet (from sensors or keypad). This is just a strange little quirk and seldom happens. In the past 18 months, I have only had one false alarm. I have two cats at home and they should not set off the motion sensors, but I suspect that they set it off. Again, this has happened only once. Overall, I am very pleased with the system. Easy to install, lots of options, and easily expandable. I have recommended this system to friends and family.

Simply the Best! Recvd it within 7 days. Viewed the CD the result... it made it all easy. system comes already configured. Changed Installer code and the User code.( too bad you can't make both codes the same) too old to remember 2 different ones :O) my advise is to view the CD. I give it 5 stars so far.

This system is HORRIBLE. Takes hours to figure out and I have an advanced graduate degree in science. Two out of 3 detector are DEFECTIVE. Waste of time and money. Don't buy all the glowing reviews here. I think the reviews are censored!!

This is a great system. At first I was a little leary due to all the comments about how hard the install instructions are. Followed one person's recommendations and read the whole install book end to end, almost twice. Makes a big difference. Then you can get used to all the little icons telling you what buttons to push and when. Parts are still a little confusing, but not too hard to figure through. And when all else fails, tech support, in my case, Freddie, was absolutely superb. He confirmed many of my answers to questions, and clarified a lot also. Overall, I took one day to read through the books, the next day to do the install, and then following that, Freddie walked me through some finishing touches on the phone which took only about 5 minutes. I love that this system is also very expandable, which I will be doing in the near future.

The unit is very flexible with many programming capabilities. Highly recommend the Visonic Powermax unit. One great feature is the ability of the unit to announce that someone is at the door while the unit is not in the alarm mode by placing outside sensors around house. You can program unit as a silent alarm system and when it calls you, it will announce what sensors have been opened. I know then someone approaches the house and I also know if someone actually came into the house. In the middle of the night if someone comes around the house, certain lights come on inside the house. My experience has been If setup correctly, false alarms are zero.

This is a great DIY alarm system. Even being somewhat technically challenged I was able to put a Kit 2 system in and added 13 door/window sensors, 2 glass break, 4 motion sensors, wireless siren, remote key pad, and GSM module without one call to support. That says a whole lot about this system. It does everything and more. The key to this just as all the others have said 'READ ALL INSTALLATION AND DIRECTIONS BEFORE STARTING THIS PROJECT.' I had the system and all 21 sensors on the kitchen table then proceded to label and assign each piece to the main unit before any installing began. The best thing is when any alarm function is set off be it break-in, tampering, phone line failure, etc. I receive a call on my mobile within 15 seconds after its triggered. Very COOL!

I rated the 'ease of use' down one notch because of the somewhat convoluted manual(s) that came with the unit. But once you take your time and go through the manuals prior to installation as so many others writers have recommended the light clicks on and you realize that it makes sense and is really very straight forward and not difficult at all setting it up. As far as my other ratings go, the unit has super features. If there was a number '6' I would check that for overall ranking of the unit. I am very pleased with the unit and it works exactly as advertised. Problems that I did have with the unit in the beginning I found out to be 'ME.' Not the unit. I really read the 'blogs' for the Powermax+ in the support section and those helped me a great deal. I purchased extra sensors, motion detector, fire alarm and x-10 sirens. Again, once I got by myself from messing up I was able to easily install and get everything working. Even my wife said it was one of our best investiments. One tip for anyone reading this. I could not get my 'alarm away' features to work using the phone. It seemed to all go as directed in the manual, but never would complete the function of arming or disarming etc. I was standing in front of the unit using my cell phone calling it. Next to the unit I have a cordless phone. Don't know what difference that made, but once I moved away from the unit some 10 feet or so everything worked just fine. I have armed it from many miles away by calling and it now works great. To anyone considering buying this unit I would not hesitate. Also. The security store is a first rate outfit. And the support staff are super....

A little information about wireless motions... usually not in the instructions. I have used wireless motions by most manufacturers, and they all have a built in battery saving feature, that disables the transmitter after a trip on that device, (i.e. walking in front of it) for usually about 5 minutes.... so if you are going to test your wireless motions, arm the system, and make sure you haven't walked in front of it for maybe 10 minutes before you try to test it. This feature is to save the battery, if it transmitted to the control every time it was tripped (walked in front of), you would be changing batteries every few days.

This is an excellent alarm kit, but the first day's learning curve is steep, so follow the advice some others have put forth and read both manuals prior to installation. -As mentioned, the mauals aren't the easiest to figure out, but it isn't that difficult either. Menu navigation is somewhat difficult at first too, but you'll get the hang of it quickly. All in all, a very decent kit. The internal alarm is kind of wimpy, but I added an external siren and the sound output is absolutely deafening. I can't see how any burglar would hang around long after being blasted by it. Just make sure to silence the internal siren to help conceal the whereabouts of the main unit.

This is an excellent wireless home security system. I would highly recommend this system to any home owner. It took me about 4 hours to install. Mostly because I wanted to figure out how to program the unit myself. I have a 2 bedroom 1 bath home. it's a little over 1000 square feet. Installation was very easy once you figure out were you are going to install the unit. The transmitters were very easy to install as well. In my opinion you must be some what technically inclined to be able to install this system youself and to figure out it's operation. I took my time and read the installer and user guide manuals. I like that you are able to program the unit to call your cell phone when an alarm is triggered. There are many optional accessories that can be added to this unit, depending on your needs. Overall this is a great unit and I am very satisfied.

Here is my opinion in Rice and Beans 1. Shipping: Very Well - on time (California to Puerto Rico in 5 Labor Days). 2. Main Console of PowerMax+Kit2: Excellent equipment but the instructions like other users said it's not user friendly. Before you buy this excellent equipment you need to search first more information to how configure the main console, if you use only the user manual inside the box, you lost you mind. Sorry. 3.MCT302 - Visonic Wireless Door/Window Transmitter: Great!!, easy to configure and easy to install. 4.MCT234 - Visonic Wireless Key Fob Transmitter: Great!! Easy to set and easy to use. 5.K9-85MCW - Visonic Wireless Pet-Tolerant Digital PIR Detector: Not recommended why??...Ok here I go... it's easy to set in the main console, but is not easy to set in the wall. Sometime the sensor works sometime not. I got not dog in my house but sometime I believe that the sensor think that Im the Dog. When I made the test the sensor simple doesn't work. Its very complicated to set this thing. I really don't like. My recommendation if you not have pets in you house like me...don't buy Pet-Tolerant Digital PIR Detector, its very complicated. Overall: Yes I recommend this web site and the products (but not K9-85MCW - Visonic Wireless Pet-Tolerant Digital PIR Detector). Thanks

I have never written a review on any product before, but I was so blown away with this kit, I had to jump on and submit a review after the first test was complete. A++++
