The ML-100 – AAA + Home Smart Center is a great starter alarm kit for homeowners or renters on a budget. That’s because the system is easy and quick to install and offers substantial cost savings over comparable systems.

The ML-100 is a complete wireless system that not only functions as a security system, but also monitors your property by providing alert notifications when the system is not armed.

This kit includes the control panel, keychain remote, 2 door and window sensors, and a motion sensor. Plus, the kit comes with an AC adapter, lithium batteries, and mounting material.

The ML-100 has five supervised zones and works with up to ten sensors, five control modules, and 5 keychain remotes. The motion sensors (which you can use indoors and outdoors) cover an area in a 110 degree arc and up to 40 feet away.

If the alarm is triggered a voice announcement sounds off combined with a unique beeping and flashing LED light. There are also 5 phone numbers that the control panel can be programmed to call. There is a built in panic button on the panel as well that can call a pre-determined number.

The ML-100 – AAA + Home Smart Center lives up to its “smart” name. That’s because it can also be used as an automation center which allows you to remotely control household appliances and lights even when you are away from your home. The system can all be controlled by dialing from any touch tone phone.

Here are additional notes on the ML-100 -

The control panel is powered mainly by the adapter. However, during power outage, the system will be powered by the rechargeable back-up battery. Under standby conditions,

the battery can last up to 48 hours.

When the back-up battery is running low, the “LOW BATT” LED on the control panel

will be on indicating the back-up battery should be recharged. To recharge the

back-up battery, plug in the power adapter. It takes approximately 20 hours to fully charge

the back-up battery.

All of the sensors are battery powered. Depending on the operating condition
and environment, the battery life is about 2 years.

The control panel can operate in 2 different modes. That is Alert Mode and Alarm Mode. In alarm mode, when a sensor is triggered, the control panel will either give a 30 second entry delay or siren will sound immediately (with instant alarm). However, if there are sensors that you do not want to trigger the alarm, such as an outside sensor, then you can set a bypass zone.

Requires Phone connection to operate properly.

System worked well for about 1 month, then problems. Had to reset again, then stopped responding and all lights on constantly and the annoying voice that sensor 1, zone one ionp. Spend some extra money and buy a better system. Book is terrible and unclear on even the basics of programming. Would NOT recommend this system!

I ordered my system on a Sunday evening. I had it delivered by the following Friday. Installed it on Saturday. Actual installation time was about 90 minutes. (Open box, read quick install guide, install.) The base modules are already installed to the main unit. Add batterys, place the sensors in your selected locations and it's up and running. (Addition of telephone numbers to dial took about 1 minute a number) Total cost with extras: Under $200.00. A local alarm company wants $1100.00 to install a similar (wired) system. Only thing to consider: The door sensors will not work on a metal door unless you add your own homemade spacer to get it away from the door metal. The sensors loose communication after a period of time without spacers. This adds additional installation time that I am not counting because I didn't find that out until the system was installed. This issue should be explained for all wireless door sensors and the manufactureres should at least provide the necessary cheap plastic spacers in the package to get the job done.

Talked with Skylink, and they told me this was their current top of the line model. But more importantly, you can turn the sensor announcements off when it's in disarmed mode if you want, a big improvement over the predecessor AM-100. Also, no all the sensors between the models are compatible; this is usually kind of a given, but thought I'd make it specific here. The big deal is the disarmed announcement issue has been fixed in this model, according to what I was told my the Skylink rep I talked to. Hope this helps.

I bought two of these systems, one for my house one for my mother's. Both went in easily, although an auxilary sensor I purchased kept failing. The remedy was contacting the home security store, and they had a working sensor replacement in a few days. Since them no problems. The remote controls made it easy for my wife and mother, both of whom I didn't want to get something to complex to use. I like the dialer function, although I am considering simply having it monitored. A nice little system.
