John M on 1/18/2008, said: The 2-way console is nicer in terms of features and feedback, however it is bigger and intended for wall mounting. This hand-held unit is great for moving around house, keeping near a door, or, as I do, storing it in car. In the car I can arm or disarm the alarm after leaving garage. Since the unit require a code to disarm it is useless ot someone else. I haven't used the remote control features yet, but no reason why it couldn't open garage door, turn on back walk lights, or perform other functions that might be useful from outside house or inside away from any alarm consoles or keypads. They are wireless so you can put them right by the door and have you system hidden elsewhere. If someone breaks in all they have to do is find your panel to disarm it...smash it into little pieces. With this I can have a pad rigth by my entry instead of packing a keyfob with all my keys and it is right there. This way, my actual system is hidden away upstairs safe. Benjamin on 8/11/2006, said: At this point I would recommend the MCM140 for 2 reasons. First off, you MUST locate your unit away from the entrance to your facility and hide it in a closet. Using the MCM140 allows quick disarm with out hurrying through the facility to the main panel. Do be advised that this unit is only ONE-WAY. Meaning it can only talk to the main unit (i.e. Arm, Disarm, Home, Fire, Panic, etc) HOWEVER, Visonic plans to release a 2-way panel this year (2006). Buy an MCM140 now and you can always located it near a backdoor/sidedoor when you order your 2-Way Keypad sometime later this year.
