I would recommend buying one that uses magnetic sensors, not a moving piston like this one since it's prone to wear and contamination of the movement. Its advertised at 300 feet...the further from the reciever the less reliable. I had to keep setting the receiver in different location to find a reliable site. Mine is 6 months old on first set of batteries and set up at about 30 feet away from garage door; and will miss activation maybe once in 50.
