The new MURS Alert Long Rang System offers the ability to monitor activity at remote locations. The MURS Alert transmitter is capable of sending 4 different alert messages to the transceiver. The alert signals will be in spoken English and are easily selected at the transmitter so that separate zones can be monitored at the same time. MURS Alert will give you real time monitoring of remote locations up to two miles away.

The BS-KIT includes the M538-BS Hand-held Transceiver and the MURS Alert Transmitter.

Receiver
The M538-BS will operate as a transceiver, meaning it will both transmit and recive messages from other MURS radio units. The M538-HT is equipped to operate on 5 channels, with 38 sub channels. In order to communicate with another MURS radio, the channel and the sub channel must be set alike. The M538-BS also has 4 separate call tones that can be used to page other users before starting a conversation. The M538-BS can also receive an alert signal from the MURS ALERT transmitter. This will notify you of any activity at the location of the MURS Alert Transmitter.

Transmitter
The MURS Alert transmitter is a passive infrared (PIR) detector that can be used to detect people, vehicles or large animals at selected locations. The PIR sensor will detect movement of objects up to 80 feet in front of the transmitter box. When a person, vehicle or large animal is detected, the MURS Alert will transmit a signal. When an target is detected by the MURS Alert, an alert signal will be sent to the M538-HT

I purchased the unit along with the bird house cover. It went together without a hitch and has been working several months now. Occasionally there are false alerts during the daytime, sometimes caused by a bird and sometimes by sunlight/shadow movement because the unit had to be installed facing west into the setting sun. Its effective detection range is approximately 80 feet and the signal to the receiver is about 300 feet. Never a false alert at night and that is what counts..!

I looked at a lot of different driveway alert systems since I live on a ranch and the distance from the gate to the house is 900 ft with some trees. None of the other systems exhibited the necessary transmitter power to reliably work over this range. A lot of less expensive sytems claimed a 1000 ft range but fell way short judging from reviews of users. The MURS systems can have a max of 2 watts transmitter power which will get you way past 2 miles. This alert sensor transmits on 1.1 watts which will transmit well over a mile. The voice alert of this receiver is not loud enough for my purpose, so I use the output contact to trigger a loud wireless chime system some 50 ft away. On testing the system, every time a person or car/truck came up to the gate, the unit alerted without fail. So far, no false alarms. Works as advertised !!!!!

WE live in a rural area and our driveway is over 700 feet long with Oak trees lining the drive. I had originally purchased a RWA-300R - Chamberlain Reporter Wireless Motion Alert System that was supposed to transmit 900 feet but only transmitted 100 feet at best. I contacted the tech for Home Security Store and we discussed the situation. Make a long story short they took the unit back, credit my credit card in a timely manor and I purchased the BS-KIT - MURS ALERT SYSTEM. This unit works GREAT, no range problems, no false signals and no misses. It is a little more money but you get what you pay fora good value.

I love everything about this product. On vacation in Orange beach Ala. I ducktaped the reciever to my jetski trailer, in case someone had bad intentions and the base station in the hotel room. My mom, sister and I had the hand helds for when they went to the pool I could communicate with them while I was waaay out in the bay jetsking.

I have 3 transmitters along the driveway. When working, these are great. However, I find that they are very weather sensitive and erratic in their operation. One transmitter sometimes picks up a vehicle and sometimes does not. In damp weather, the transmitters may work and may not. Not sure if this is because of the limitations of the technology or poor implementation. One transmitter stopped working because of water entering the case and destroying the electronics. To their credit, Home Security Store did replace it, no questions asked.

This unit installed as discribed. Very easy to use. I'm about 1500 ft from the monitor and have had 100% success to date. Cars and people are picked up as expected. However, the deer have activated it twice...oh well. It also works about a mile from my place at a friends house. However, the voice is not legible, but at least they know someone came through my driveway. I plan on purchasing additional monitors in the near future to put in my barn and shed.

I have Murs System with both the Transmitter and handheld transceiver. It works perfectly on my ranch. The radio works even at the end of my property. About 50 Acres of flat land. I would recommend this product for large applications.
