Ultimately, a glassbreak detector is limited by how well it hears all sounds and by how smart it is in reacting to the one sound that poses a threat. On both counts, nothing comes close to DSC's new Acuity Glassbreak Detector with Dynamic Sound Analysis, a detection system so innovative it's recognized by two patents.

The product of years of research and development effort, Dynamic Sound Analysis starts with an advanced microphone system able to capture sound far beyond the range of human hearing, at low volume and up to 25 ft. away. Once captured, sound is digitally analyzed in remarkable detail in just a fraction of a second. Excellent RF immunity along with protection from static discharge and transients add to Acuity's reliability.

These are compact and they do look nice, but they are very difficult to test. I had a glass break simulator, (not theirs), and it would never cause them to activate. I bought four and the tech. dept. said you have to go on faith that they work. I would recommend the type you clap your hands to test. I bought seven of them for my home and I can easily test them.

tested: by placing a rock in a cardboard box and dropping a glass bottle on the rock; it worked

I've owned these units for several years. There is an adjustment under the cover for sensitivity. With the keypad in the beeper mode (beeps when monitored door is opened) and NOT armed, I use a iron horseshoe and hammer - hit them together and you will here the beep from your keypad letting you know it is working.

I was able to install the detector with out any issue. My only complaints is that there is no way of testing the unit to see if it works. The unit is smaller that what I had expect it to be. It is about the size of a cassette tape.
