Allegro is an economical addition to the GE Interlogix family of security systems. Allegro offers up to 20 zones of burglary and fire protection, a built-in keypad and 85dB siren.

The GE Allegro is a perfect security system. Being an Aircraft Maintenance Technician, I consider my self to be technically competent person. The instructions need help. Still cheap, but SIMON 3 is more appropriate because of the VOICE ALERT features. The Allegro will only send CID/SIA to monitoring station. Despite the availability of the ITI ToolBox to download events from the GE Security website, the system provides little information on how to download and operate the ITI ToolBox with the Allegro. Sensors are nice though, small and discrete and reasonably priced. Overall easy to setup, but the VOICE EVENTS is a big miss, or else this product would be a killer. Mark on 3/4/2007, said: I thought that the instructions were pretty overwhelming but it turned out that the setup was actually pretty easy. Figuring out that there were two separate codes, an installer code and a user code was the most important step. Configuring or learning the requires use of the installer code rather than the user code. Once I figured that out the setup was a breeze. Took me about 3 hours to set everything up. The RJ-31X jack setup was also a challenge because getting to my phone wiring is difficult. This however does not reflect on this alarm system in any way but is something to consider for the do-it-yourselfer. I recommend purchasing the hidden door sensor for your front door if you have a decorative wood door, I plan to buy one later as I think it will look much nicer. Reflectoman on 1/30/2007, said: This is a very simple system, that can be installed by anyone (no need for any technical knowledge). The user manual is complete and very easy to understand. I agree, adding a backlight would be best, and the seperate dialing modem is something new and smart. You can hide the dialer out of place, in a remote area with a CA38A jack, so it will always dial out even when the main panel is tampered with, cause they won't be able to find the dialing modem!!! Sensors are lightweight, but rugged. Its wireless (with a couple of wired zones as well) so you just place the detector where you want and not worry about wires to run around!
