Simon XT™ is a cost-effective security system that offers up to 40 zones of burglary and fire protection, and which complies with SIA False Alarm Standards. With a built-in display touchpad and a status speaker that provides visual and voice messages for feedback, Simon XT is well suited for houses, apartments, and condominiums.

The Simon XT panel comes standard with 40 wireless zones, or it can be set up with 38 wireless zones and two built-in hardwired supervised burglary zones (normally-closed loop only). The built-in radio receiver works with both crystal and SAW LearnMode™ sensors.

Simon XT supports off-premises telephone control to arm and disarm the system, check system status, activate no-entry delay, or activate the latchkey feature. With latchkey capabilities, the panel can be programmed to notify customers if the system has not been disarmed at a scheduled time.

Simon XT supports convenient system operation from anywhere within the premises with the use of wireless touchpads. Choose from the Remote Handheld Touchpad, two-, four-, or five-button crystal or SAW Keychain Touchpads (keyfobs), or two-button ELM Keychain Touchpad. ELM (encrypted LearnMode) technology secures every keychain touchpad transmission. When powered by the optional line carrier transformer, adding X10-based modules lets customers control lights, appliances, and other devices.

Simon XT can send messages to a central monitoring station using SIA or Contact ID (CID) formats. The panel can also report alarms to another land-line phone location or cell phone using Voice Event Notification. Built-in two-way voice capability with VOX (voice-activated switching) provides additional security and emergency contact with the control monitoring station.

System programming can be done from the panel using the built-in touchpad, or off-site using Enterprise Downloader Software (revision 3.4 or later).

This product is great for self-monitoring. At first, I am reluctant buying this product after reading some of the reviews about the installation issues and some features that don't work as it suppose to. After reading more recent reviews, I decided to give it a try. I bought a kit for $249. This inclides two door/window sensor, 1 motion sensor, the cotrol panel, backup battery, telephone jack and box, dvd instruction, and the manual. Just watch the DVD first and it should get you going easily. One thing that is a little confusing on the video is how to hook-up the telephone line. Basically, the video shows how to connect it in an office setting where you have mulitple telephone lines. You don't need it for home use. Likewise, you don't need the telephone box that comes with the package. You just need another piece of telephone cable because they only provide 1pc. COnnect your incoming telepohone line(wall) to the XT's line in then the Xt's tel out to your telephone set. Yes you can use the telphone line with bigger head(connector) that comes with the unit. That's it. Everything else is as per video and manual. SEt the telephone numbers you would like the system to call in case of an event then it will automatically dial it and leave you a voice message. I got mine and my wife's number programmed. It is working very well. Another good thing with this system is being able to arm/disarm it remotely using your phone/cellphone. Its in the manual read it to know how. OVerall, I am very satisfied. I am planning to add another door sensor(recessed type) as this looks more professional because it is concealed. I also plan to get a smoke/fire sensor but I have yet to see any review on this so I will probably wait a little bit. jv(10/27/09)

This panel is compatable with the previous before GE took over devices ( Called to ask but could not get an answer). on this system I do recomend reading the installation manual before Programming (the Zones messed me up). When I called ADT and they would not give me the info to reconect the new Simon with them (they wanted to send one of their techs out to program this system (at a cost to me about 85+per hour)) After running me arround verious phone numbers II was told that it was against the rules to give customers this info and that was final even if it meant I would stop my service with them. Then after setting this system up and discovering that the system tells me on the phone what alarm is going off and I do not have to deal with an alarm operator I discovered who needs ADT and I will be saving $32 a month. Win Win for me Lose Lose for ADT. So I am overall Happy and sugest this system upgrade.
