The Simon 3 is the BEST system I have ever used. I have experienced zero false alarms and the auto dialer is AWESOME. I love being able to arm and disarm the system over the phone.

The GE Interlogix Simon 3 is a popular and well proven, time-tested security system. That’s because it’s easy to set-up and easy to operate. However, the Simon 3 is much more than a simple alarm system - it’s a system that caters to a family’s needs. It not only incorporates intrusion detection, but incorporates what’s called a latchkey notification feature which will notify you by phone or pager if your child does not arrive home at a predetermined time and disarm the system. In addition, the Simon 3 is capable of controlling up to eight X-10 devices such as lights and appliances. This means you can turn on the lights by schedule, by event, or by the touch of a button.

With the Simon 3, you can choose whether or not you want to use a monitoring system or simply have it call your phone or pager, or it can do both. Plus, because it is wireless, Simon installs in hours, not days with no mess, no wires, no dust or imposition.

The Simon 3 kit is made up of a control panel which serves as the keypad and siren. Many users have commented on the console design which is smaller and more attractive than other typical panels. (But don’t let its size fool you!) The kit also includes 2 door and window transmitters, 1 pet immune motion detector, one 24 hour back-up battery so your system remains up and running for 24 hours in the event of longer power outages, one X-10 ready transformer, a jack and cord, plus a user’s video.

Other great features of the Simon 3 include 24 available zones so you can protect your home or business from burglary, fire, and carbon monoxide. Plus, 1 partition, remote phone control, and a two-way voice feature which allows you to talk back and forth with the monitoring station in the case of an emergency or a false alarm. There are also 6 programmable access codes which can be set to 3, 4, 5, or 6 digit codes, so each family member can have a private code. In addition, Simon's built-in digital voice directs you through every step of operating the system, plus tells you the status of your system and the location of an alarm.

The Simon 3 offers sophisticated security and home automation which is made simple for you to program, learn, and operate. As GE Interlogix puts it – “Simon says…Simply the best in security”.

Here is a recap and some additional Features –

• 24 wireless sensor zones; 2 hardwire zones
• 6 user-programmable access codes
• Up to 8 individual light or appliance control units
• Integrated radio receiver
• Built-in touchpad
• Rechargeable back-up battery
• 2-way audio verification as a built-in feature or add-on
• Supports 2-way RF Talking Touchpad
• Complies with UL 985 rating

I was shopping for a new door and window sensor(one of mine went bad after 9 years) when I saw they still made this alarm I had to rate it for you. This GE Simon 3 has worked incredible for me for over 9 years. When this goes I will buy another one just like it. Maybe it doesnt have the hi tech touch screens like some of the new ones but if it did I bet it wouldn't have lasted 9 years. And BTW I arm it every day and every night. My only complaints are minor. 1 the battery backup is only good for a few hrs.During hurricane Sandy we were out of power for a week. But I see the new one has a much bigger battery so I can guess they remedied that. 2- when an alarm goes off the phone that its plugged into has a no dial tone for hrs after. I discovered if I push "system status and listen to the alarm description (basement water leak or child's room window etc) it resets itself. And I programmed it to call my cell and work number and it does every time. Oh and listen to the prompts and follow directions when it calls you. Like "press * for alarm " and "press # to exit" if you do that the robot won't keep calling you LOL.Also i installed this entire thing myself. Its not hard. But dont use the 2 sided tape it comes with.Unless they improved the stickieness. A window in the summer gets hot and the glue comes unglued just screw it in with the tiny screws provided. All I want to say is thanks GE you have made a near perfect product. When i first moved to NY from Maine I was a little freaked out about the home invasions in the news and the crime here. This little box has kept me and my family safe and allowed me to sleep. Thanks Steve S Northport NY

I purchased this system in June 2007 and it has worked flawlessly since then. The only advice I have is to screw-in the contacts wherever possible because the velcro-tape will deteriorate over time. It's great to see a GE product hold up to it's reputation ! J DiMaggio

This system has worked well for us over the past 5 years without any issues. Great system and even better with some of the accessories, like extra motions and keyfobs. We are monitoring three floors in the house without issues. Batt life for the wireless devices works well for over a year and when they fail the system tells you which one fails. Great system well worth the money easy to program

Simon is a small home alarm control without frills. Having a keypad and sounder on the face of a control is a target for the crook to attack. Shut down the noise and you shut down the dialer.

Setup was no problem after a few minutes to figure out the logic of the installation instructions. Everything integrated well and worked flawlessly. Highly recommended with two comments: 1. No power wiring supplied to connect the transformer to the alarm panel. 2. I used the X10 Pro PSH01 power horn and it did not work as instructed. The instructions are apparently for the GE unit. I found that it was necessary to set it up as a light control rather than as a siren on unit 9. When an alarm sounds the lights are flashed and that is what the siren needed.

I have installed the system, and have found the documentation to be lacking enough detail to do the best job. After calling the support line, we basically removed all I had done, and reinstalled it the "right" way.

Excellent Product for the home. I am in the Security business and installed this product in my personal home. As an installer I always used hardwired systems, but this system is good enough to change my mind. Excellent features and easy to program and use. I am also using the X10 modules with it and am very pleased with how everything integrates together. I am recommending this product to my customers who want to install their own systems.

Our famil;y purchased the system to replae and existing system and it is perfect for our application. Set up and programming are a snap. After a couple of question calls to tech support at The store, all questions were answered and it is all working perfectly. I am currently purchasing added sensor and key fobs to add to the system. Thank you.
