Advanced Wireless Two-Way Intercom System

Don't be blind when answering your front door ever again. The Optex IVision Wireless 2-way Intercom System with Video is your new doorbell- except now, your doorbell has a camera.

This video intercom system keeps you safe from unwanted guests at your front porch. It is a professional grade video intercom system made up of two wireless devices: the Camera Door Unit and the Portable Hand-Held LCD Display Unit.

When a visitor presses the "doorbell" on the camera/door unit, the portable device chimes, then shows you a live video and voice feed of the front door and you can be anywhere in your home when it happens (300 foot transmission from door unit to portable device line of sight)! After 10 seconds, it will take a snapshot of your visitor. Then, you have a choice. You can either communicate with them via intercom or ignore them, still having a saved image of what they look like.

Who came to my door when I was at work? Video images are automatically recorded at every "doorbell ring" and this system can store up to 163 images. When you playback images, they are stamped with a date and time. It's like the video version of Caller-ID for your front door.

There's also a live look-in feature, so you can check a live video feed of your front porch at any moment, but please note that for the live feed feature, your camera/door unit must be hardwired to your current doorbell.

Portability is key. The charging/base station can sit on a counter or be mounted on a wall and you can leave the iVision in the base station or carry it around with you. With the 300 foot transmission, you can be in the backyard or garage and see who is at your front door at any time of the day. Never trust a distorted peephole view again.

Is the iVision fully water resistant?
While the front casing of the iVision is water-resistant, it is advised that you not let any amount of water touch the backside of the unit.

How can I prevent the back of the unit from coming into contact with water if it rains?
We advise that your iVision unit be placed under the eave of your residence.

Where can I purchase a protective casing for my iVision unit?
We do not currently have protective casings available for purchase for the iVision.

How long will the batteries last on the iVision?
Depending on the amount of use of the camera, the batteries should function for approx. 6 months to a year.

Where can I purchase an external power supply for the iVision?
We do not currently have external power supplies available for purchase for the iVision.

Awesome setup, simple to install. if connecting to a transformer the the top terminal is +. I don't like that the door chime rings at the outside unit as well. Would be nice if that could be turned off. Otherwise unit is well worth the money.

Was skeptical at first as the selection of wireless doorbells generally was pretty poor. This one seemed to stick out as at least being decent quality. In the end, it turned out to be a very professional looking product that works excellent. Had a glitch in using the hard wire option as I had Cat 5 cable but after some research I ended up just attaching the Brown and Brown/White wire to the electrodes on the device and it worked great. Great picture and great sound quality. A very nice product.

A pleasant surprise after having tried other inferior wirless intercoms like Chamberlain. The range is great all over my 2,000 sq. foot house, even though the camera is mounted on a rock wall in my outside entry way. Picture is stable with no interference, even with the handset next to two wireless internet routers. Voice clarity is excellent. I tesed the mounting location with batteries first, and then used the door bell wiring (18 VAC) in the final install. Best feature is you can turn on the camera and voice even if nobody pushes the bell button. A great feature if someone knocks on the door, you just press the Answer button and talk to the person. Not that this mode only works if the unit is wired to an AC power supply, like the door bell wires. With batteries the camera bell button must be pushed first in order to see video or talk, so I higly recommend connecting to an AC power source. Because of camera location preference, I actually connected a bell transformer to my porch light and ran a wire to the camera instead of using the existing door bell wiring. The porch light switch is always on since the ligt is triggerd by a motion detector so no worries about the switch being turned off. This system works great in my situation, and experienced none of the problems cited in the negative reviews.

Was easy to install. Hooked it to the old existing doorbell wires - that is the way to go as you can initiate conversations with people who have not pressed the doorbell. Did not come with a manual - of course if you are reading this you have the ability to go to the company website and download one (that's what I did). Might not need it though - very easy to install and operate.

This unit was easy to hook up to a doorbell's electrical wires, and sends a clear, wireless signal to the handset. No interference and the audio is good. My expectations were exceeded.

With a privacy glass front door it's always been a question of security when someone rings the door bell. Having this intercom installed has taken the guess work of who it could be. I love the fact that I could use my existing doorbell wire to power the system.

Nice product that does what it advertises very well. Let me clear up some confusion about how this works.... Pros: Good wireless range all the way to the backyard; adequate picture day and also night via infrared; good hands free duplex audio with no need for either party to press talk button repeatedly back and forth like a walkie talkie; able to activate from indoors to see camera image and speak to visitor without the outside visitor ever pressing button first (ONLY when camera is hard wired which is very easy as you can use the existing 6-18 VAC old doorbell power to power the camera (and still power your old doorbell if you want to use both); snaps pics of visitors; attractive slim unit. Cons: If outside camera is NOT hardwired and instead run on batteries, you cannot see the camera image or initiate speaking from inside unless the visitor first presses the button on the camera and since people are not too smart sometimes they may just bang on the door. This leaves you with no way to see or speak to them. The solution to this problem is (1) hard wire the camera, this is the best solution for full functionality ... or (2) label the door camera button with an additional idiot proof "Doorbell" or "Press here" label so people won't just bang on the door because they can't figure out to press the button. As I said , hard wire it to your old doorbell wires for full function. If you have no old doorbell, 6 to 18VAC doorbell transformers are widely available and you'd only need one small hole from inside to supply the outside camera with it's power. Also, as will all cameras and not specific to this one, if the background is really bright (direct sun or direct bright sky right behind the visitor) the the image will be a silhouette. The brightness button on the video receiver can help this some. Again, all cameras will do this and it is not a flaw. If this holds up, I say highly recommended. Rick in KC

Been using the product for over 1 yr. Good concept fair production. Lighting can be an issue depending the back ground. Be careful on placement. Very nice to be able to see what is going on at the front door and to be able to communicate from a safe convenient distance. Would recommend to others. Other nice features is the ability to see who has visited your door when away. Also very handy to send away any strangers that come to the door looking to sell something. Guilt free to say no thank you and click the off button. Also, feel much better about knowing that my wife will not have to open the door when I am away and have to worry about her security. Good security is important today and this items helps with that. Will be interested to see the next generation and the improvements made.

The packaging and claims made for the Optex iVision wireless 2 way intercom are misleading. You can only see and talk to the person on the other door IF THEY RING THE DOORBELL. If they knock on the door or you wish to use your existing doorbell you can neither talk nor see them. The "doorbell" on the camera unit is hard to see and almost all strangers at the door knock and we find the unit useless. A call to Optex 'customer service' was met with indifference about the misleading nature of the packaging claims. Definitely do not recommend this unit. John in Kansas City, Missouri

Overall, very good product. The video is excellent, and works very well at night. Voice quality is good when talking to visitors at the door. It is nice to be able to see what is going on in the front of the house with the built in video feature. Wireless coverage appears to be very good. I have a larger home and the unit works in every room, even if you take it out in the back yard. The "doorbell" chime is not very loud. You pretty much have to have the indoor unit with you at all times if you have a larger home.
