Regardless, it works great, and looks about as attractive as a siren can. You can increase it's effectiveness by strategically mounting it in or very near to air conditioning ducts. The sound will carry through the ducts. I have severe hearing loss, and there is no way this would wake me up from the position it's in now. So I used an output from my alarm to run a loud 12 volt buzzer and mounted it on the headboard of my bed. It's loud enough to wake me, but not so loud as to give my wife a heart attack, as having another siren in the room would likely do.
