A driveway alarm can be that extra layer of home security that you need! For those of you who already have an alarm system in place, a driveway alarm protects the parameter of your home and will instantly warn you of unwanted intruders. It can be useful for reasons beyond security too, as the driveway alarm can also give you that extra time to greet an approaching guest or to answer the door.

DCPT-2500

The DCPT-2500 - Dakota Alert Duty Cycle Probe Alert Transmitter is used to detect vehicles ONLY either entering your driveway, or passing near the spot wherein you have positioned the Dakota Alert Probe. The unit is meant to be used with the DCR-2500 - Dakota Alert Duty Cycle Receiver, to which the transmitter sends a wireless alert signal once a vehicle is detected. Setting this unit apart from other driveway alarms, is that the wireless signal sent to the receiver can reach an impressive 1,500 feet! Moreover, false alarms set off by large animals or people will be wholly prevented, as the DCPT-2500 is programmed to solely detect metal.

The Probe itself can detect a vehicle if it approaches up to about 10 ft. away, and should be buried beside the driveway. Those with driveways that are two or more car widths wide will probably have to purchase two units in order to bury a probe on either side of the driveway.

DCR-2500

The DCR-2500 - Dakota Alert Duty Cycle Receiver will receive a signal from the DCPT-2500 - Dakota Alert Duty Cycle Probe Alert Transmitter, which can be placed as much as 1,500 feet away from the receiver. The DCR-2500 requires no license to operate and features four chime tones to choose from.

The DCR-2500 receiver comes with 4 form "C" relay outputs and 1 12V output which can be programmed to activate for:

  • 1 seconds
  • 10 seconds
  • 60 seconds
  • 10 minutes

Moreover, the DCR-2500 receiver also features a brand new "Reminder" Feature. What this means is that you can choose to allow the unit to flash small LED lights and/or have it sound an audible "Beep" every 15 minutes after an event is triggered in case you missed it.

Features:

  • Built-in volume control
  • Four Different Chimes Tones
  • Volume Control
  • LED Reminder Lights
  • Comes with 12V Power Supply

PLEASE NOTE: The Dakota Alert 2500 series alarms DO NOT work with the Dakota Alert 3000 series.

Finally a driveway alert that works every time without false alarms! This is my third system, the others all motion detectors. They all alerted to animals as well as wind, sun, birds and whatever. Also, the ability to change the frequency is vital as there are so many wireless devices out there and this is so powerful it will register the neighbors garage door opener until you find a unique frequency in your neighborhood (simple to change - took me only two tries).

It is not reliable. Works 90% of the time which sounds good but a 1 out of times we have looked out in the parking lot and there are customers and the unit did not work. VERY BAD. We have replaced the cr123's which are not cheap and it did not help. If it is just a casual concern if you "want" to know if a vehicle has come in, then the unit is for you. If you MUST know everytime, don't buy it. A reasonable price for this unit should be in the $20-$40.

Pleased to report working very well at all 3 receivers. Yesterday I installed the DCPA-2500 with (3) DCR-2500 receivers at an approximate distance is 950'. Terrain is gently sloping open land with some trees. My challenge had always been with (Innotek's) radio signals not penetration of the stone wall of the house. It had also been impossible to get a signal in the basement. I am VERY glad to have found Dakota Alert and The Home Security Store. Provided it gives me trouble-free service, I will recommend the Dakota Alert solution. FYI: I found it helpful to mount the transmitter 8' off the ground - the manual recommends 4-5'. The more line-of-sight you can get, the better. But at 8' changing batteries will be less convenient. For me, that's an acceptable price to pay for the complete coverage, and security, of a reliable alert.

At first I was concerned since the alarm would not work at about 500 feet. (Our driveway winds, has many trees and there's an out garage blocking the house.) After mounting the black box transmitter at about 7 feet on a tree, it now works flawlessly. Thank you.

we have used a this product for about 4 years now. i have sent it back twice for repairs and have to replace batteries every other month. get false alarms 24/7 when the batteries begin to go. i'm looking for solar. Pro's - my transmit distance is about 1000ft thru woods and up a big hill, this unit has had no problem reaching that far.

I have a gate about 1,000 feet from my house and I wanted to have the gate already open by the time I reached it. I bought the DCPA2500 and it took minutes to hook up and run. Excellent options with both the xmitter and receiver unit. Great product!

We've had our DCPA-2500 a couple of weeks and we're very pleased with it. Now I don't have to sit by the window when we're expecting guests, I can go about my business and just listen for the alert. I am curious as to why it alerts to all vehicles except for our friend's older model Cadillac. They've been able to sneak in twice. :)

DCPA2500/DCR2500: Excellent product; very fast shipping. I was using a motion detector that would alert at sunrise, when birds flew by, when it rained, when lizards sat on it and dangled their little tails in front of it. If it didn't alert at least 20 times a day, I'd know to go clean off the spider web that an arachnid weaved over the detector. All of that has ended. Now I know when a vehicle enters my property, but no longer monitor weather and wildlife activity. I'm only transmitting 500 feet and through a window; the signal is strong. The monitor volume can be turned up to where I can hear it outside of my house if I so desire - no faint beep. Worked 'out of the box' with no adjustments. So far I've had NO false alerts and NO missed vehicles. Fantastic product.

I owned a dakota alert 3000 years ago and we must have screwed it up with our electric fence, since then we bought a cheaper item else where and WE'RE BACK to get the real thing. Rebecca King, TN.
