PLEASE NOTE: The Wireless2000 is an upgrade to the Wireless1000 sold here at HomeSecurityStore.com, doubling its maximum transmission range from 1000 ft. to 2000 ft (Open field/Line of Sight. Transmission performance ranges from 150ft around stucco/plaster construction, and 100ft around reinforced concrete construction).

This Wireless 2000 Visitor Driveway Alarm from OPTEX is among Home Security Store's most highly rated and recommended products. That's because with the Wireless 2000, OPTEX has perfected reliable wireless technology in the long RF transmission range, which for this unit stretches to an amazing 2,000 feet!

The Wireless 2000 is ideal for use in myriad ways, including:

  • As a perimeter alert for your home or shop
  • As a driveway alarm to detect approaching vehicles
  • An entry or walkway chime
  • A wireless doorbell
  • A warehouse delivery notification system

Additionally, the Wireless 2000 is an excellent tool for commercial uses, including monitoring shoplifting zones, dressing & fitting rooms, unauthorized exits, jewelry display boxes and drive-up windows.

The Wireless 2000 comes equipped with TWO detection patterns that can adjust easily for perfect aiming:

  • A long range of 50 feet
  • A fan pattern range of 17 feet

In addition, the Wireless 2000 can alert you by 3 different chime tones that a zone has been breached. The alert tones have 5 different sensitivity levels and can be set to sound up to 80 dB. If you choose to incorporate more transmitters, the receiver can also identify which zones have been breached by certain tones. Up to 12 transmitters can be incorporated.

One of the more useful features of the Wireless 2000 is that it not only operates efficiently as a perimeter awareness system, but you can make it so that it also triggers other devices, like door strikes, lights, sirens, cameras, and more. This trigger system utilizes a weatherproof motion detection sensor that is about the size of a softball and can be mounted easily on any walls, ceilings, fence posts or desktops both in-and-outside your home or business.

For your convenience, it is also possible to work the feature manually using a hand-held push-button device with a transmission range of an impressive 700 feet. (Sold separately, see accessories tab)

Installing the Wireless 2000 is easy! Just two buttons prompt all the set-up functions needed, and since the system is entirely wireless, no wiring of any kind is required. The sensor operates off a 9V battery meant to last an average of two years, while the receiver operates with an AC adapter included in the kit.

Additional Features

  • The Sensor Has a Newly Developed Non-Directional Antenna
All wireless transmitters have “dead spots” within their transmission range. The sensor’s improved antenna design greatly reduces “dead spots” to make installation easier and increase reliability.

  • The Transmitter Has a High Gain Antenna & Narrow Band Tuning
Optimal antenna design and fine RF tuning achieve a high signal to noise rate, ensuring long range and consistent operation.

  • More Than 8 Million Codes
Transmission codes are preset at the factory with over 8 million possibilities, virtually eliminating the possibility of interference or crosstalk.

  • Low Battery Signal
Low battery indication by tone and LED tells you when to replace batteries and prevents malfunctions.

  • Sensor Chime Box w/ Relay
Form C relay for activating other devices (50V AC 1A max. or 24V DC 1A max.) with adjustable output duration.

  • OPTEX Part Number
    RCTD-20U

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How loud is the chime?
80 decibels, or about as loud as an alarm clock.

  2. Can you add more than 4 transmitters to 1 receiver?
A total of 12 transmitters can be programmed in a single receiver.

  3. Where can you find a replacement power-supply for the receiver?
The receiver uses any 9VDC adapter, which can be purchased at your local electronics supply store. Thus eliminating the need for an online order.

  4. What does the Repeater do?
The Repeater allows the transmission range to be extended between the chime box and the transmitter. That way you can set the transmitter further away or in a place that is not within a clear line of sight, and the Repeater in-between will allow a signal to travel undisturbed. (Sold Separately)

  5. What is the handheld transmitter used for?
The hand-held transmitter features a push-button which will send a signal to the chime-box. The handheld transmitter can be used as a location finder for the blind, or can be programmed to release door strikes or magnetic locks.

I bought this unit becaue I wanted to know when someone came to by house. When I'm working in the Barn or out by the pool, I can't hear the door bell or see the driveway. The unit seems to work fine, but I was very disappointed that the RECEIVER IS NOT PORTABLE! IT MUST BE PLUGGED INTO AN AC OUTLET! How difficult would it have been to put some batteries in the thing? Why did they make it look like it was portable?

Installed this unit on my driveway (300' long) and it has performed well. I shoot across my driveway and receiver is inside house about 150' away, but near a window. Sensitivity is very high and false alarms during windy wx (leaves and foliage in motion) do occur. I am experimenting with different angles etc. I wish it came in camo color as it sticks out like a sore thumb on a tree. I may take one reviewer's advice and place it inside a box (painted in camo of course)to cut down the viewing area.I've used it a couple months now and so far so good.

Distance range is very good. Two year battery life is a myth; four months tops.

I really like this driveway alarm. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. Installation was very easy. I installed it onto a tree and aimed it across my driveway. The furthest edge of my driveway from the IR sensor is 25 feet. I used the "narrow" beam setting. I found that the sensor needs to be pointing slightly downward to reach across the driveway. I really like the chiming sound inside my office. It certainly is less jarring than the buzzer from my old system. I recommend this unit without reservations.

This thing is terrible, goes off now because it goes off sometimes and sometimes it doesn't, It should be called the sometimes driveway alarm, called and spoke to tech support did everything they recommended. It even goes off when it snows just a little bit, more than when it does when a car drives 4 feet in front of it. I had a $70 dollar driveway reporter it worked much much better then this, but it got bad reviews and they quit making it. The replacement is the Chamberlain CWA2000 Wireless Motion Alert works 10 times better than this and is a lot cheaper. thanks.

Purchased this system and installed it myself to cover the perimeter of my carport that's about 50yds. from my house. System works better than I actually expected it to. The initial setup is a little of a challange but otherwise still a very good product. A great buy for the price !

Bought this based on the the reviews I read here and I am not disappointed. This is a great system. Easy to set and chime I can actually hear no matter where I am in the house. Replaced a different model with one and am much more satisfied.

For 10 years we've been plagued by having to post a watch at our bathroom window to see when expected family and friends pull into our driveway so we can let them in through our garage in bad weather. Ditto knowing when deliveries arrive so they don't sit out in the rain or cold. The sensor/transmitter is mounted on a metal fencing stake and "looks" across a driveway. The receiver is deep inside a frame house about 75 yards away. The performance has been great. No interference from traffic on a road perhaps 30 feet to the side of the scanned area and running parallel to it. Minor nuisance from deer and foxes transiting in the wee hours, so we simply unplug the wall wart on the receiver when retiring. Had worried about the cold (we're in NH), but the alkaline 9 volt with which it ships has held up well through -10 deg. F temps. Snowfall doesn't bother it although blowing clouds of snow may have triggered it once. We're still on that battery (two months) despite bitter cold. Have a lithium 9v to replace it when the time comes. The monitor is unobtrusive and has adequate range of volume settings. This is an excellent value. Highly recommended.

I wanted to wait awhile before I reviewed this. I've had several driveway alarms but none like this one, I don't believe you could get a better one. I bought one in July 2009, put 1 9 volt battery in it, put it on back of mailbox stand shooting across driveway (Set on long range). Have not had any false alarms, works perfectly, plenty loud enough alarm. But the thing that really blows me away is, the same battery is in it that I first put in it. Would highly recommend this product.

I mounted my Wireless2000 transmitter in a sealed 7" x 6" plastic electrical box for stealth reasons. Secured the unit inside the box with velcro. Cut a 1 1/2" hole for the device to 'shoot through'. I'm using the straight line setting, so if you choose 'fan' you might need a larger hole. Works like a top! Works so good, I now don't continually have to keep checking my mail, since the receiver chimes each time the truck stops stops.

I use this to let me know someone is close to my garage. It will detect cats. Good fan pattern maybe 20' wide x 15' out. Only bad thing is, reciever must be close. I tried it on the other side of the house (through 4 walls approx: 70'from sensor), wasn't much good.

Pretty good device. I only wish there was a sensitivity control to help stop false alarms triggered by wind blowing the vegetation around.

I am buying a second set for myself. I gave my first one that i've used for year to my sister. I have used this product from guard aginst armadillos to secure my tool shack. It has never let me down. P.S. A rabbit will set it off also if you put it on the ground. Love this product.
