Pros: - If you are familiar with the basics of networking, such as IP addresses, SMTP servers, etc. then it's fairly simple to setup and configure. - Good Night Vision - Many features Cons: - E-mail alerts after the first one (in succession) are each delayed about 3 minutes. If someone is walking around you'll get the first e-mail picture within seconds, but you'll keep getting more every 3 minutes. If it tripped 8 time within a few minutes, you wont get the last e-mail snapshot/photo till about 30 minutes later. iPhone/Android app is 3rd party, not that great-- but it does work. - No computer software, all software I found that was supposed to work ddidn't and didn't have instructions. The '.ini' config files had the comments written in Chinese. - The web client is ActiveX which ONLY works on Window, and ONLY with IE 7 or below. IE8 and IE9 would cause the internal webserver to hang. I would then have to reboot the DVR to regain access, and as stated earlier, only with IE7 or below. I primarily bought this because it said iPhone compatible. Technically this is correct-- it's compatible, but not that great. I returned this product and am currently looking at the Lorex Edge+. Lorex costs a couple hundred more, but you get what you pay for. They received the return about 5 business days ago, but I havent been refunded yet; and I've been on hold for 30 minutes now waiting for hoping to get this straightened out today. Be prepared to wait a while if you need to call HSS tech support.

if your looking for something to record than it will work, other wise do not think that software will allow external viewing without freezing, and if you own a blackberry than it will not work with mobile viewing. tech support is also very limited

I was looking for something for our daycare business.I got tired of hearing from some of the kids for us to stay a lot longer while our second shift staff was there. I got this set and installed. The first thing is it didn't have all the cables inside. My shipment lacked the cables that provide power to the cameras. The 8 ended wire or the part that plugs into the monitor which this system does not include by the way. Yet I was able to plug it into existing lcd flat tv or my computor monitor. Anyways I called home security store and after the salesman treated me like I had to be fibbing that the system lacked parts he finally shipped me one of the parts missing from my package.I installed it and they work great inside or out. It took sometime to figure out the internet ip from home. Finally did when I used the wan ip address from my router at the daycare. I did and boom we can see all the kids and staff from home. I installed them in great spots inside and out. Including the kitchen where food items would disappear from time after time.No more. I even had my wife call them to let them know about a the kid in time out playing on someone's car seat. This made them know we can see everything. Yes it takes a little computor know how yet with a little support about your router where you're installing your unit can make a big difference and if your system doesn't have all the parts. Call em you paid for it.- Mr. Sip jackson,tn
