Just installed this module as a backup to my primary landline - it works just fine. I am pleased knowing if someone takes out my phone lines, I still have protection. There are a couple of keys to having a good install: 1)Make sure the GSM module is installed in a good location so you have a strong signal. When you buy your cell phone with cell# and sim card (you'll need both) position the phone and look at bars to make sure you have a good location. You may have to run network cable a distance to your control panel to achieve a good connection. 1)As recommended by a number of users, I got the t-mobile prepaid (get the $100 card and you get gold status and the card won't expire for a year - lower denominations expire sooner.) Anyway...I am absolutley satisfied so far.

I purchased the GSM module and it works fine. I called several Cingular wireless dealers and they did not know what to do as far as selling and programming a 64K GSM SIM card for the PowerMax GSM system. I became increasingly frustrated as they would not listen to me. The dealer insisted that there were not enough digits in the serial of the PowerMax GSM dialer for it to work on their system. Finally I went to the largest dealer and told them to just put the serial number on the back of the GSM dialer as the phones serial number. They put this in and the PowerMax GSM unit worked fine as soon as it was plugged in and added in the GSM setup. I am in an area of medium to low signal strength on the Cingular Wireless Network. So far all messages have been transmitted properly. The GSM module reports to the PowerMax system if the network signal strength gets to low. The signal strength happens to be low occasionally in my area, but I am in a hole. Our local sheriffs even have trouble with their radios here. The unit seams to be working fine.
