I've had this camera up outdoors (corner eave of my house) now for several months. It just doesn't measure up at night. Granted, there are no hard reflective surfaces, just grass, trees, and a bush but unless the subject is standing right in front of the camera it doesn't do a very good job. It is mounted about 8.5' high so maybe it is not high enough to get enough IR spread but I'll have to admit I'm not very satisfied with it. I have another one mounted over the driveway and the hard surfaces seem to make the IR work better (reflect better?). It is mounted a little higher so maybe that helps some. Daylight is great. No problems there. Night is just lacking. I'm going to upgrade to a 36 IR and see if that helps. I have bullet cams with 36 and they work great. Good coverage and clarity.

The 49 foot IR distance is way overrated. I figured the distance would be the typical manufacturer rating and I'd get about 2/3. I real life it gives about 25 feet...maybe. The camera itself and resolution are fine. I'm disappointed in the IR range. I'd recommend the HSCMR613 - Lasertech IR Vari-Focal Bullet Camera w/ 2.8-10mm Lens for more serious night range. I have one set up and it works well.

I installed this camera in a customers business where he wanted to see if people were in the office when they shouldn't be, the office is usually dark and the ir's light it up so that even small details are visable, and the attractive look of the camera fits perfectly into the decor of the offce. i will be using this camera again.
