Oh yes some of the voice prompts helps but not much, and then finding which of the three instruction books to use is a real laugh. I have found Military procedure manuals easier to understand. Did you know you actually need a Central reporting station to get your alarms? oh you can use your cell phone it will call it 8 times and you get nothing, so as long as your sure no one else is home then maybe you have a true alarm. I consider myself a highly intelligent person with a doctorate degree and this was NOT easy to figure out. I ended up calling tech support to ask what I need to do with all the bits and pieces. Here is a list of what is not obvious when you get the product and the problems I am still having. 1. It is NOT totally wireless and you will either have wires going from your outlet to the keypad, or you will be drilling holes in your walls. 2. This unit does NOT come with extra wires and unless you are an electrician you wil have no idea what type of wires to get and where they need to go. I was told speaker wire will work. 3. The transmitter (outlet plug) has a bunch of little screws on it. Good luck if you can figure out what they are all supposed to be used for. You will need at least 2 of the screws (AC) to connect your wires (speaker wire is what I was told would work by tech support) to the keypad. These wires connect into these tiny little ports (there are 16 total so you need to know which ports to use) which are inside the keypad. 4. If you buy an extra siren for a louder sound (which is recommended) then you will need more wires for this too. If I had known this before purchasing the system I might have skipped buying the siren all together. Your siren wires will connect to the keypad (again more wires, or else drilling holes into your walls). 5. The most annoying part of this fiasco is the door/window transmitters. Why on earth they don't include the magnets I don't know- but they should at least TELL you that you need the magnets if you want the system to work! So after spending $800 on my system I finally realize I need to go back and buy 15 magnets which are sold separately. I am ready to throw the entire unit in the trash because i wonder what else is missing! The instruction manuals (there are about 3 of them) read like stereo instructions- totally foreign unless you happen to have a background in electronics.
