I worked in alarms a long time ago, and have always shied away from motion sensors, fearing false alarms. This one came with a packaged alarm system I bought, so I figured I'd try it out. We have 2 adult cats, and the sensor is in a corner of a large living room, where it can also cover the open dining area. Been using it for 2 weeks, and it has worked perfectly. Because the room is large, I turned up the sensitivity trimmer some. The directions give you a good idea where to set that for the coverage you want. I also set the pet immunity jumper to the lower setting. (We have cats, not dogs.) I left the rest of it as it came from the factory. Works great. When I was in the business, I found that a lot of folks didn't understand motion sensors very well. They would want them turned up to the point where just flicking your hand at your side, or taking a "baby step" would trigger them. That's much too sensitive and can cause false alarms. If you stand still and move your hands around over your head, the motion sensor shouldn't trip. You should have have to take 2 or 3 steps to trigger it.

Even on the most sensitive settings my two dogs (40 and 50 lb) could not set it off, however a 350 lb human could not set it off either unless moving across about 45 degrees or range at a brisk walk or set to single "click" (which raises risk of false alarms dramatically). Two other models with same placement would detect 110 lb child without fail and still were immune to dogs.

Don't waste your money on this one. Not very sensitive even when turned all the way up. Spend the extra money on the the LC-104, it is 100 times better.
