This Wireless Alert System combines two of the hottest products on the market. First you have the wireless transmitter that uses an infrared beam to detect people or vehicles up to a distance of 80 feet. Then you have the wireless portable receiver that receives the radio signal. The receiver can work up to 600 feet away allowing you to be mobile and still be aware of your monitored area. The pager/receiver is extremely compact at only 2.5in x 1.25in x .75in. It has a large, clear, and easy to read LCD display, that is used for it's logging and date and time stamp features.

The WMT-PR3000 includes the WMT-3000 transmitter and the PR-3000 portable receiver.

Transmitter
The WMT-3000 transmitter is used with the Dakota Alert WR-3000 receiver. The WMT-3000 transmitter uses a passive infrared (PIR) detector to detect people, vehicles or large animals at the monitored location. When the transmitter detects an object, it will send a signal to the receiver, which will sound one of four different tones (Classical, Westminster Chime, Ding Dong, or Whistle) for a few seconds. The transmitter can be used as a driveway alarm, or in the back yard to monitor around tool sheds or patios.

Receiver
The PR-3000 receiver is compatible with all Dakota Alert 3000 Series transmitters (WMT-3000, WPT-3000, WHT-3000, UT-3000, and IR-3000). The PR-3000 is capable of receiving and storing alert signals from four zones. When a signal is received, the zone will be displayed on the LCD screen and the receiver can be set to give an audible tone or a silent vibrate alert. Each zone can store up to 400 events with a time and date stamp or up to 999 events without a time and date stamp. The PR-3000 is powered by a rechargeable Li-Ion battery which will hold a charge for up to 10 days.

The Dakota alarm worked great for a couple of years if the battery was changed about every six months. Now it's dead as a door nail. No matter what I tried, it will not work. Went through the maunual, double checked everything, tried a couple of new batteries, but nothing makes it work. I guess if you're looking for a system that works great for a couple of years this one will do. Upgrading to a video system now.

I've been using Dakota Alert components going on 5 years. I live in a remote location and I do everything I can to protect my security. Sensor transmitters, each sending a different signal, line my 1/4-mile dirt driveway, so I know when someone approaches and exactly where they are on the road. If you let the battery in a sensor transmitter get to low, you will get spurious alerts, or not get alerts when you should. I've researched and looked at every alternative (there aren't that many), and there just isn't another product (unless you want to spend thousands) that comes close to Dakota gear. I also use the MURS components for longer range. The only wish I've had from Day 1 is that Dakota Alert only has 4 frequencies and tones. Six or 8 different frequencies would allow more zones to be protected.

Worked perfectly for several years. Now it is having issues, not going off when it should. Very few false alarms. Appears time to get a new one.

I have had this alarm for 2 years. First year worked fine but only if receiver was within a certain range, not the 600 feet it claims. In 2nd year (and changing batteries a couple of times thinking that was the issue), I am experiencing intermittent alerts & after most recent battery change, the alert goes off twice for one vehicle passing by. I am looking for a more reliable system.

Thus far I am very happy with this product. I live in a nice neighborhood but we do have problems with people burglarizing cars inadvertently left unlocked. It has happened three times in the last couple of years and I'm pretty sick of this crap! I've used the Dakota Alert WMT-3000 for over a month now in conjunction with a remote infrared camera on the drive. It has performed perfectly for my application. No false alarms! If it is activated you have movement in the affected area. Period! It has never been activated by flying insects, however you will get some alarms on particularly windy days when there is movement by wind-blown shrubbery, but it hasn't been a big enough problem to trim them or reposition the transmitter since the wind usually dies down at night. It will be activated by stray cats and dogs and I am perfectly fine with that. I've read other reviews the transmitter will fail if exposed to blowing rain. So I ordered the available 'bird-house' that helps conceal the transmitter and keep it out of the weather. 20 bucks well spent! I've waited till we had a tremendously hard rain to see if I had similar problems before writing this review. I experienced no similar problems using the transmitter in conjunction with the bird-house. I also saw a review complaining the alert was not loud enough. Mine can easily be heard in the next room. (However, a welcomed improvement might be to give the user options to make the alert last longer or perhaps even a manual reset option for heavy sleepers.) The NEXT little scumbag that gets in my car in the middle of the night is in for a BIG surprize!

Worked great for about 2 years then became totally unreliable. Dakota in it's defense has great customer service! Probably buy something else now.
