After a 2 day power outage when we were away form home we received "low battery" calls and our system gave out loud squeaks until we disarmed it. It then squeaked again after four hours. It took over three days for the battery to recharge to 7.23 volts and the problem to go away.

I only gave this back-up battery three stars because I am disapointed in the battery life. I bought the Simon XT less than two years ago and the back-up battery needs to be replaced. I hope the Home Security Store can carry a longer life battery in the future.

Not happy with initial battery they sold me. It only lasted three years. I cannot find anyplace that tells me the expected lifespan of these batteries. So this is not a real complaint about the homesecuritystore itself, but rather this battery product that is "required" in my Simon XT. I do not think there are other choices of batteries. Also unknown, is how "fresh" are the batteries when they are being sold to us. Talking to the local battery company in my area these are known as Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries and their life span "starts" from the moment they are assembled. So if these batteries are sitting on the shelf someplace before we buy them, the lifespan clock has been ticking for that timeframe. So, buy them from a place that turns them around rapidly.
