The DVCCMNV854 Long Range Weatherproof IR Camera Varifocal can focus in on an object that is half the length of a football field away. For a surveillance camera, the size is huge. It weighs 5 pounds and has been compared to the size of human head, but with a pair of eyes that can see much farther.

This infrared camera by Atrix, Inc. can be easily incorporated into a surveillance system for both professional and commercial use. That’s because the camera gives you 540 razor sharp TV lines of color resolution and with 30 high powered LEDs, you can see up to 185 feet away in pure darkness.

The DVCCMNV854 has an integrated 8 to 40 millimeter auto-iris lens with external zoom and focus controls that will help get the best shot from any angle. This means that the camera's lens can be adjusted anywhere between 8 millimeters and a whopping 40 millimeters to achieve the desired field of view (FOV).

The camera has an image sensor designed by Sony that utilizes CCD (charged couple device) technology. The 1/3 inch Sony Color CCD image sensor is used to capture light (or optical image) and convert it into electrical signals, making for a more dynamic picture.

I recently installed 2 of the DVCCMNV854 camera's for commercial use. I am thourghly satisfied with the resolution that the camera's give. I could see birds walking on the lot at around 150 ft. I was a little skeptical of the camera's after reading the reviews written; however, I would not hesitate to install more of these camera's for other customers.

Several yrs ago I purchased the VC-CA-IR100-6 cameras for our security system! My concern is the night time useable field of vision can one actually see someone in detail! One of my ole cronies said whatever the nighttime distance is, reduce it by 50%. After three yrs, I would reduce it by 75%, based upon the cameras we've installed and tested! I'm looking at replacing my current cameras, and will try (1) of the DVCCMNV854 cameras and see how it works prior to purchasing additional cameras! In my one major area of concern, I'm thinking of adding additional IR panels to illuminate the area, and see if that helps! Any thoughts?????

Why are the old comments not on here anymore? Those were much more helpful. This camera is the size of E.T.'s head. The brackets are too short for the size, and the actual range for night vision is half the advertised range. Great picture in daytime; can not capture a license plate from 25 feet away though. Where can I buy camera that the traffic enforcement uses for people who run red lights?

This camera zooms very nice and looks great during the day. The IR illumination does a fair job at illumination in the dark. You can see that there is someone there but you won't be able to identify anyone unless they are within the first 50-60 feet due to the graininess of the IR illumination, even at high zoom factor. The 185 feet illumination is possible, but I have found the intensity to be a bit weak at that length to be very useful, though 100 feet is reasonable. The camera is large and not covert, but not as bad as I thought after reading other reviews. A good quality camera with cast mounts and a clean look. I would buy again as I have found nothing that gives the versatility of a large range zoom, night illumination, good low temperature specifications and a pretty good resolution image in light or dark. I would highly recommend "Home Security Store" and would not buy anywhere else as their return policy and support is excellent.

This camera has a lot more range and clarity than the VC-CA-IR120 cameras I bought. I bought the DVCCMNV854 from another website (glad to see the camera is now available here). The only draw back is the bracket is not long enough to mount on the side of a house to reach around and face forward. You have to mount this camera bracket on the same side you want to record, with the camera pointed straight forward (less covert). The VC-CA-IR120 brackets are the perfect length.
