Keyless Entry

For some families and business owners the way to go is keyless. Having a keyless entry means you never have to call a locksmith again in the event that you lose your keys. That’s because there are no keys to deal with, there are just codes to remember and once that code is punched in, the door lock is unlocked and entry can then be made.

Keyless entries also eliminate the worry over a thief breaking in by using a bump key. A bump key is a crafted or filed down key that is commonly used to open any lock the key blank will fit in. Criminals use bump keys to quickly open key based locks that utilize a cylinder and tumbler design.

Under Home Security Store’s Keyless Entry category are also magnetic locks (or electric locks) that can be used within an access control system. In such a system when the correct code is punched in, the controller sends a signal to the locking device which unlocks the door.

Magnetic locks can be either fail safe or fail secure. Fail safe locks open during a power failure, while fail secure locks lock during a power failure. When selecting such a locking device, you will also want to know what poundage you need or want. Perhaps you want 600 pounds of tamper strength (meaning over 600 pounds of force is needed to force the lock open) or maybe you will want 1200 pounds.

Within the Keyless Entry category there are also touch tag access control door locks and accessories, plus a swing door opener with remote.
