An advanced ceiling mount motion detector will provide full 360 degree coverage and work with any ceiling that is at least 8 to about 15 feet up from the floor.

Ceiling mount motion detectors come in different sizes and shapes from circular (most common) to triangular. The detectors can be wired or wireless and are also equipped with a variety of technology. For example, some detectors are pet immune while others might double up as a glass break detector too.

When selecting a ceiling mount motion detector not only is it important to know what kind of technology it uses, but you should find out the sensing angle. Keep in mind that a wide-angle sensor is likely better for a ceiling mount motion detector because it gives more complete coverage.
