Alarm Enclosures
Alarm enclosures can be used to house your main home alarm control panel, to serve as an expansion box for additional modules, or it can be used to house a receiver. Some alarm enclosures are made of metal and are more durable than some plastic enclosures which are sold. In addition, some enclosures are flush mounted, while others are surface mounted.
When you choose an enclosure to purchase you will want to make sure it is the right size to fit your equipment. Various sizes of alarm enclosures include 14 inches, 28 inches, and 42 inches. Some enclosures come with hinged doors that you can remove. In addition, some of those doors are mounted to open right to left while others are mounted to open top to bottom. When that particular top to bottom door is opened it creates an area for small tools to be placed while you work on the panel or additional module.
Typically, enclosures are finished off in a white or beige coat inside and out and have knock-outs to accommodate transformers and cables. The enclosure might also have a locking device to secure your panel or module. If indeed your alarm enclosure has a locking device, remember to keep the key in a secure place which you can easily recall, but also in an area where a burglar would not think to look. If you have a second key, leave it with a trusted family member or neighbor or put it in a safety deposit box.
