Alarm Modules

An alarm module is a system add-on which allows you to add more features and devices to your current alarm system, making for a more safe and comfortable environment. However, not all basic home alarm systems can be expanded or are compatible with all modules. If you think you might be adding space to your home or office then be sure your alarm control panel is capable of expanding. The same could be said if you wish to have such add-on features as GSM or additional motion detectors or transmitters.

There are many different types of modules. Modules allow for extra smoke detectors, motion detectors, glass break detectors, and carbon monoxide detectors. Some power supply modules even allow for multiple sirens and strobe lights. The more popular modules are used for applications such as controlling your lights, appliances, security gates, garage doors, and more.

There are also internet connection modules (ICM) which allow users to control the system via the internet. In addition, there are modules which can support both 2-way audio VOX and push-to-talk home alarm verification.

Usually more than one module can be added to an expandable alarm system. Modules can be wired or wireless. The wired ones connect to the alarm panel by wire and typically require their own transformer or battery.

Remember, not all makes and models of alarm systems are expandable. That’s why you should do your homework before you make a purchase to ensure your system will meet all your home security needs and expectations.
